Where art meets phonetics: Creating anatomically accurate vector animations for code implementation.
This app teaches reading through the "Science of Reading" method, which requires showing exact mouth shapes (visemes) for each sound. The technical challenge was massive: we needed hundreds of high-quality animations that wouldn't crash the app's performance.
I utilized Lottie (JSON) architecture. Instead of using heavy video files, I created vector animations in After Effects and exported them as code. I designed a system of mouth shapes that are anatomically accurate for phonics learning but stylized enough to be friendly for kids. This reduced app size by 90% while maintaining crisp resolution on all devices.
